
Meet Dan Zekor
Background and Career
Dan Zekor is a freelance writer living in Columbia, Missouri. Originally from Wisconsin, Dan is graduate of UW-Steven Point where he received degrees in wildlife biology and natural resources. After working briefly at Mississippi State University researching waterfowl management on private land, he moved to Missouri in 1987 where he eventually he joined the Missouri Department of Conservation working in a variety positions, until retiring in 2014.
Passions and Interests
Dan is an avid waterfowl hunter, spending most of his days in November and December in a duck boat or blind in North Missouri. During the other days of the year he’ll be holding a bow, flyrod or fishing pole, or watching bird migrations, or reading the classic outdoor writers of the past and present. He’s also a committed conservationist and lifetime member of the Conservation Federation of Missouri, a member of Ducks Unlimited, Trout Unlimited, the Old Duck Hunters Association Circle, Brule River Sportsman's Club, and the Missouri Outdoor Communicators.
